Michelle Cranston: Clinical Psychologist Michelle is the resident psychologist at Hallam Family Practice. Michelle can assist with a range of clinical issues such as depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder and eating disorders, as well as overall life difficulties such as grief and loss, work / school stress, bullying and relationship problems. Michelle is currently completing her doctorate researching eating behaviours in overweight and obese males and females. She has assisted many people over their most healthy weight to change their relationship with food and eating. This is achieved through a "non-dieting" perspective, as the patient learns to identify and manage their unique triggers to over-eating (emotional eating, social eating etc...). This approach has been found to reduce yo-yo dieting (weight loss followed by weight gain), as research has ironically found that dieting is the main cause of weight gain. Michelle is currently registered with Medicare, numerous private health funds, TAC and Workcover. She works with a variety of patients from children to adults. Eligible patients can receive a $76.65 rebate through Medicare for up to 12 sessions (in some cases 18 sessions) per calendar year. For more information, please speak to your GP. Fees: $130 per session (patients without a current health care card) $100 per session (patients with a current health care card) Under exceptional circumstances, where the patient is under extreme financial hardship (and holds a current health care card), bulk billing maybe available.
