All patients with a scheduled appointment will be bulk billed for Medicare eligible services upon presentation of a current Medicare Card.

  

Patients are asked to ring 9703 1322 to make an appointment before attending the clinic as patients with appointments are given priority .

A ny unscheduled or walk in appointments will incur an $80 non rebatable fee payable on the day.

We ask patients that can not make their pre-booked GP appointment time to ring

9703 1322 to cancel and give at least two hours notice.  Failure to attend or to cancel an appointment will be recorded on your file. Patients who fail to attend or cancel more than 3 times in a twelve month period will no longer be offered appointments at the practice and would need to settle this with management (NON ATTENDANCE FEES WILL APPLY)

 

Allied health appointments require 24 HOURS NOTICE for cancellation otherwise non attendance fee will be charged. 

 

 

 

 

Women's health - female doctors available on weekends and after hours

Men's health - specialist heart and prostate checks

Children's health - childhood immunisation, common illnesses, developmental problems

Older patients - health assessment, care plans, disabled parking, wheelchair access

Occupational medicine - injury management eg.  Suturing / plaster/ pain relief and also flu vaccination and pre-employment medicals

Mental health - supportive counselling and prescription medicines

Iron Infusions - Commencing 01/06/2026 Iron Infusion Sets will be required for a cost of $80 / $60 concession.  This cost is on top of the cost of the prescription fee.  These are only available at our onsite Health First Pharmacy.  If infusions are to be performed outside of chemist opening hours, these will need to be pre purchased and given to practice nurse.

 

AHPRA guidelines states that prescriptions and referrals should only be done after a consultation with a GP either in person or via telehealth.

As such, GPs at Hallam Family Practice will not be able to complete such requests without an appointment.  

In the interest of strict confidentiality, test results are best given to the patient in person. Receptionists are not qualified to give results, so it is advisable to see the doctor who ordered the tests for the results.  An appointment can be made for this.

When tests are performed it is the patients responsibility to contact the clinic for an appointment.  Never assume that because you have not heard from the doctor or clinic that tests results are normal.

  

Our practice is committed to preventive care.  Your doctor will seek permission for you to be put on our reminder system.  We may phone and/or issue you a reminder letter from time to time appropriate to your care.  If you do not wish to be part of this system, please let your doctor or reception know.

 

We understand that there may be times when you need to speak to your regular doctor.  If the doctor is with a patient, a message will be taken and your call returned at the doctor earliest convenience.

 

Home visits are available for our regular patients whose condition prevents them from attending the clinic.  These visits are at doctor's discretion.

 

Outside our normal operating hours, treatment is handled by Mulgrave Private Hospital Ph: 9795 7700, who will contact your doctor the following day.  A service fee will be charged.
